Wet Sessions At Live @ The Studio – Darwin Entertainment Centre

Words & Pics by Steve Kelk

Jigsaw Collective

The Darwin Entertainment Centre is on to a winner with their crackingly-good idea to showcase free local live music in the more intimate Live @ The Studio venue prior to main acts in The Playhouse over their Wet Season program.

The ‘Wet Sessions‘ has been a roaring success and given a lot of local music-loving punters of all ages the opportunity to see local live artists that they might not normally get out and see.

Adam Scriven

A lot of genres were covered, with the likes of big-band sound Jigsaw Collective, multi-instrumentalist and soloist Adam Scriven, indie-pop/rock ‘Lioness’ Emma Rowe and the sublime Kathryn Ezzy on piano warming up for acts such as Queen Forever, Abbey Road Live, Amanda Palmer, 10cc and Courtney Act. Darwin’s One Mile Brewery provided liquid refreshment and the food on offer was incredible. We sincerely hope that the DEC keep this going. Here are some selected snaps of the various artists doing their thing in The Studio over the last couple weeks.

*Apologies to the lovely Emma Rowe – we couldn’t make it to your gig unfortunately, as much as we would have loved to – we will make it up to you! Tonight, DJ Tristan is warming up free in Live @ The Studio for Courtney Act, so get along for some free entertainment from 5.00pm.
