Regional Roots: Xavia – Tidal Fever

Regional Roots is a project that Foldback undertook in 2020 to showcase some incredible emerging artists from the Northern Territory.

We travelled across the NT to interview and record performances with these truly talented people.

“Alice Springs multi-instrumentalist, looper, singer and NT Song of the year Finalist XAVIA creates dreamy electronic-folk, a space to swoon in swirling strings, earthy rhythms and soaring melodies that draw you into a vivid song journey. Live, she has been described as one of the most unique performers on the circuit, live-looping percussive cello, handmade beats and sparkling autoharp to blend with striking and delicate vocals layers and harmonies.

XAVIA is originally from Adelaide, formally one half of sibling duo BrotherSister (triple j Unearthed winners), and has lived and toured in Australia, Nashville and Europe as a cellist and session musician. She is now based in the vibrant and robust creative community of Alice Springs with her young family.”

We hope you enjoy this video of XAVIA performing ‘Tidal Fever’ 🧡

At the end of last year XAVIA released a new EP ‘Mountain Whispers’, featuring six gorgeous tracks. You can buy this EP and more music from XAVIA 👉 https://xaviamusic.bandcamp.com/

Thank you to the Northern Territory Government for supporting this project.
