Bass In The Grass Announces 2016 Lineup

By: Cazandra Mariano

The countdown is on to May 21 as Darwin’s popular music festival Bass in the Grass releases its lineup for this year.

Following a successful worldwide tour, folk and indie-pop duo Angus & Julia Stone are locked in for another visit to the Northern Territory. The ARIA award winning pair are known for massive hits like Big Jet Plane, Get Home and Crash and Burn, plus a collection of solo works.

Electronica and indie-pop band SAFIA will be joining the stage. With their song Embracing Me making it to number 23 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 this year, this is definitely on our don’t miss list.

Fans who missed out on Laneway, have no fear, Violent Soho is back in the NT again and sure to make the mosh pit happy.

Another festival favourite, Boy & Bear, is on the bill too. Currently on a national tour, the band’s new album Limit of Love was described by Rolling Stone as “channeling the dreamy cocaine haze of classic Seventies pop and rock”.

RÜFÜS just dropped their new album, Bloom, last month and is set to go on tour this year with some venues already sold out. A definite must catch on this year’s festival.

The talented hip hop pair, Hermitude, will definitely make the crowd dance with their hits including The Buzz and HyperParadise. They were nominated for seven categories in last year’s ARIA Music Awards and landed number 8 in Triple J’s current Hottest 100.
Just when you thought this couldn’t get any better, lineup also include festival veteran’s Bliss n Eso, Drapht, and Tkay Maidza to complete the rap acts this year.

Bass in the Grass 2016 tickets go on sale February 11.
