Summer Sessions
Summer Sessions 2015 was filled with fun, sun and electronic drums.
The overall atmosphere was fantastic and as usual all the artists exploded on stage refreshing the crowd with every sweat dripping, dance track as they presented their summer vibe collection to us.
My favourite act at Summer Sessions 2015 was Kilter. His intense percussion-filled set lifted the laid back crowd and launched us into a dance frenzy. Nearly everyone I spoke to about SS were in awe of his set. Kilter, escaped from Sydney, to bring us his heart pounding production. He is definitely someone to watch for on the Australian electronic circuit.
Another favourite was special guest Savage. Better known for his work with New Zealand hip hop outfit the Deceptikonz. After he went solo, Savage raspy and unique deep-tone has made him in demand within the dance industry.
However, music aside – I was disappointed in the oppressive behaviour from security. Not only was there a rule, in Darwin, to keep your shirt on but security were overly aggressive to patrons.
I understand the need for crowd control, but this year’s SS was like a lock down. Police and security over ran the feeling of the outdoor festival vibe.
Festivals are expensive days out for adults to enjoy themselves. It’s a place where we like to dress up, or down and enjoy the music and each other. Yes, the few will try to ruin it for the many, however, this year it was security who ruined it for patrons.
