Masters The NT Young Australian 2015
Darwin drummer Benjamin Masters‘ dedication to the local music scene has paid off as he takes the 2015 NT Young Australian of the Year Award. Masters engages in the local music scene, performing, mentoring and supporting local talent.
Ben’s music contribution creates opportunities for Darwin bands to play to the wider community. His extensive portfolio includes coordindating all-ages gigs, drug and alcohol-free music gigs and the Terrorfest music festival. Ben is also a drumming tutor for high school musicians and a mentor for MusicNT.
Masters started a booking agency to give beginner bands an opportunity to play on stage with some of their national idols. Ben’s successful heavy-metal outfit, I, The Burden, has won awards, produced EPs and music videos and toured nationally.
