Tinpan Orange Album Tour

Darwin Railway Club 28 May 2016 | By Steve ‘Habibi’ Kelk

_DSC2427Siblings Emily and Jesse Lubitz of Tinpan Orange sat down with Foldback Magazine before their sellout show at the Darwin Railway Club in late May and shared with us their passion for Darwin and how busking in the tropical city over ten years ago helped shape and form them into the polished, yet down-to-earth performers they are today.

Touring on their 5th and latest album “Love is a Dog”, the trio (with violinist and guitarist Alex Burkoy) have been winding their way around the country, wowing crowds with their ever-evolving take on life and love, relying solely on their organic musicianship, stripped down and bare. The band could pick up items at a dump shop to play as instruments and still overwhelm your emotions with the chemistry and feeling that comes from having grown up playing music together, bonded by blood.

TinpanOrange_Comp_DSC2732_SMLEmily’s voice is naturally fluid and both intense and understated at the same time. Her brother’s accompaniment on guitar and kick sets the rhythm and tempo for his sister to shine to, while Alex’s skill with strings will leave you enthralled and entranced – this is no overstatement. The trio is a perfect storm of the right talent finding each other to form works of art with which to decorate the aural landscape.
