Foldback Regional Roots – Interview With Casii Williams

In 2020 Foldback Media received a grant from the NT Government to undertake a project that would see a creative collaboration across three iconic regions of the NT, working with artists and creative producers in Central Australia, East Arnhem and Darwin regions to record and showcase some of the extraordinary artists that call these regions home.

Casii Williams is a Western Aranda woman from the remote community of Hermannsburg in Central Australia. A third generation musician, she is the first woman in her family that has pursued a solo music career. Her first performance was at the age of 10 at the Yiperinga Festival to 20,000 people. She was only 14 when she released her first single. Her 2018 release Fallin Down has earned airplay on Triple j unearthed and community radio.

We visited Casii at her home in Hermannsburg, Northern Territory to talk about her musical influences, her family, and her extraordinarily powerful songs.
