The NEO – Fear Of The Unknown

The NEO

Territorian locals and serotonin stimulators, The NEO are releasing their much-anticipated new album, ‘Fear Of The Unknown‘. This album has been 10 years in the making and features tracks created in their extensive travels around the Top End, to the centre of Australia, the Eastern and Southern Coasts and even to New Zealand.

As the title suggests, the album explores many of our fears and quests for meaning and understanding. Says band member Tim Sinclair: “The album was composed at an interesting time on the planet. Never have we heard more from so many around the world and witnessed the chaos and misinformation caused by fears. To me it seemed natural to explore the greatest of the fears, the ‘unknown’ and express this through our music. We play with notions of fear, with themes of love and compassion, cunning and guile, celebration, humour, and irreverence.”

The album features 12 members of The NEO and a sizzling horn section including 5 saxophones, trumpet, trombone and a sousaphone, creating an inescapable festive vibe.

The first single to be released from the album is ‘Out Of Place’, with a full-power, soul-fuel concert and Cabaret show. In true vaudeville style, The NEO will host a wild Cabaret night at the Darwin Railway club on Friday April 8th with some of the finest performance artists in the Territory. Featuring the brilliant comedian Leah Potter, the sensational Rix Kix Dancers, miraculous magician David Lim and juggling comedy like no one has ever seen before with Michael Connell. For the single, The NEO have collaborated with internationally renowned animator (and returned Darwin local) Dan Hartney with a fully animated film clip.

Out Of Place’ has a dark, juicy pulse, reminiscent of a Viking ship arriving through the mist on the back of a baritone saxophone.

The album will be released with a series of concerts in Darwin and the NT in 2022, with plans to tour the southern States later in the year and in 2023.

Concert & Cabaret, Friday 8th April at 8pm, Darwin Railway Club, tickets can be purchased at: www.stickytickets.com.au
