Anna Boustead and After the Rain is a folk-rock outfit featuring local Darwin musicians Anna Boustead (vocals/guitar), Steve ‘Habibi’ Kelk (bass), Micha Jackson (viola) Brad Ermel (mandolin/guitar), and Mark Smith (drums/percussion).
Rhythmic bass lines, soaring string melodies and driving beats have added a new dimension to the earthy tunes written by local solo artist Anna Boustead.
The band appears regularly at Darwin venues and events, including the Territory Jazz ‘n’ Blues Festival, the Fred’s Rural Show and the Tactile Arts Mothers Day Fair.
Most recently, this month Anna Boustead and After the Rain performed as part of the MusicNT ‘InTune Showcase’ and supported The Audreys on their tour to Darwin. They are set to support Jessica Mauboy at the Territory Day concert on July 1 and will be opening for the Darwin Royal Show on July 24 and playing at the Darwin Festival Bamboo Stage on August 14.
Anna was nominated as a 2015 NT Song of the Year finalist for the song, Consumer Junkie, co-written with Tim Birch. In 2014, she was named one of the top ten “NT artists to watch” in 2014 by the AU Review.
After Anna launched her solo EP Cast Your Shadows in 2011, in 2014 Anna Boustead and After the Rain released their debut self-titled EP featuring drummer Tim Birch and bassist Amy Kimber. Launched at the Darwin Railway Club as part of the Darwin Fringe Festival, the tracks have received airplay on Territory FM, ABC Darwin and community radio stations across the country. The EP is available online through iTunes.
