Filipino Rock Band Making its Presence Felt on the Darwin Scene
Emerging Darwin rock band Point Of Presence are fast endearing themselves on the local live music scene. Young, enthusiastic and joined by their shared Filipino heritage, PoP have come out of the gates strong on a range of originals and covers, some in their native tongue.
The 6 piece have been putting in the hard yards and are showing some remarkable musicianship in this early stage of their careers. Last Saturday night at the Darwin Railway Club they brought their A Game alongside support from the sublime fellow Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter Serina Pech with full band (Serina and the Salamanduhs), and local dynamos Danger Den.
Rarely does a local gig bring the community together like this one did. Organised by local Filipino music producer legend Kyua James, the Rails saw a large Filipino contingent in the audience cheering on all acts on the ticket. That is the power of live music – it unites. Lets have more of it.
