Originally hailing from Ocean Grove, Victoria but now based in Darwin, indie singer-songwriter Anna Boustead has played solo for several years before forming a band, After the Rain. She recorded and released a solo EP Cast Your Shadows in 2008.

Anna was listed by AU Review as one of the “10 NT Artists to Watch in 2014” for her “lovely lyrics and tunes”, selected as a finalist singer-songwriter in the 2014 Telstra Road to Discovery NT Heat and recently was nominated as a 2015 NT Song of the Year finalist for the song, Consumer Junkie, co-written with Tim Birch.

In 2014, Anna Boustead and After the Rain released their debut self-titled EP featuring drummer Tim Birch, violist Micha Jackson, guitarist Brad Ermel and bassist Amy Kimber. Launched at the Darwin Railway Club as part of the Darwin Fringe Festival, the tracks have received airplay on Territory FM, ABC Darwin and community radio stations across the country. The EP is available online through iTunes.

Anna Boustead and After the Rain play regularly at venues in and around Darwin with their new line-up featuring drummer Mark Smith and bassist Steve Kelk.

In 2014 the band played festivals including the Darwin Festival, Adelaide River Muster, Original Recipe, Saltwater Craft Fair and Darwin Fringe Festival. Most recently, they performed as part of the MusicNT InTune Showcase, supported The Audreys in an acoustic set on their tour to Darwin and supported Jessica Mauboy at the Territory Day concert.

They performed at both the Darwin and Fred’s Pass Shows, and are playing the 2015 Darwin Festival Bamboo Stage earlier this year.

In 2013 the band recorded Trippin on 104.1 Territory FM’s Drive program, with footage available on YouTube. In 2014 the band recorded Mutiny on 105.7 ABC Darwin and 104.1 Territory FM.
