Are you a member of, or know of a band from a remote Indigenous community that are keen to hone their musical and performance skills, gain industry knowledge and perform in front of thousands of people?
If so APPLY for MusicNT’s 2019 BUSH BANDS PROGRAM!
Applications are NOW OPEN for the annual program, which includes a three-day development camp at Ross River Resort with mentoring from world-class industry professionals, before concluding with a performance at the Bush Bands Bash at Telegraph Station, Alice Springs.
This program allows participating bands to develop their professional and musical skills, as well as providing an invaluable opportunity to network with industry insiders, with previous participants going on to book large-scale gigs such as MONA FOMA and Nannup Festival.
Last year’s Bash was attended by over 2,500 people and provides a great chance to share Indigenous music and culture with the wider Alice Springs community.
Every year MusicNT receives a large number of applicantions from around the Northern Territory and the central desert area, this year we anticipate a higher number of applicants than ever before.
“Getting into Bush Bands is very competitive so it’s important that bands get all their supporting material in to us as soon as possible! We’re looking forward to this year being bigger than ever and growing it further on such solid foundations that have been built over the years”, says Bush Bands Program Manager Laurie May.
Six bands will be selected from the applications to perform alongside the supporting and headline acts chosen as part of the Country Arts WA Sandtracks Tour.
Applications are now being accepted via Music NT’s website or by emailing Program Manager Laurie May on bushbands@musicnt.com.au. Applications for 2019 close on the 11th of June.
