After ten spectacular years, the annual Wide Open Space Festival (WOS) held in the desert outside Alice Springs, is taking a gap year in 2019 to work on re-strategising and developing their systems to bounce back bigger and better in 2020.
From the lessons learned over 10 years of delivering the festival, the Wide Open Space team have decided to focus their work in 2019 on developing a long-term strategy to maximise and sustain the benefits that the event brings to Central Australia and growing stronger networks within the local arts and tourism sectors. WOS will return bigger, stronger and brighter in 2020.
From the Directors: ‘We’re planning for the next event in 2020. It’s a lot of work putting on an event like this and we are run by a team of dedicated crew who manage to squeeze this in around their work, lives and families. There’s some work to do on strategic visioning and systems development, and we’re listening to our people and the community who want to take the time to get this right. We want WOS to continue for many years to come and we need this time to ensure we can plan for that. Thanks to all of our supporters and we look forward to working with the community and our event partners to make the 2020 event the best one yet’ – Festival Directors Scott Large, Rodney Angelo and Jimmy Cocking.
