Darwin hip hop artist Emcee Clifton has recently dropped a killer video for his deeply personal track ‘Waves‘.
The up and coming young Territorian rapper focuses this track on his recent struggles with mental health, and the views he shares on growth as both an artist and a member of a younger generation. Writing and recording throughout his teens, Clifton has been driven to succeed musically by his personal struggles with addiction, as well as trying to live independently from a young age.
And driven he is. Performing alongside several metal, acoustic and hip hop acts, and investing countless hours into preparation, he has been working on his debut EP in the hope of shining a light on a severely underrated hip hop platform in the Northern Territory to the rest of Australia. Tracks and supporting vids like ‘Waves’ only go to showcase the depth of talent and determination that exists in the NT scene.
Shot and directed by Cortext at Lahai Creative and mixed and mastered by Burd Brain, the video ‘Waves’ is a simple but effective vehicle for Clifton to get the message across.
Let’s hope ‘Waves’ makes a huge splash on the wider Australian hip hop scene. Have a peep and listen below:
