Foldback Regional Roots – Interview With Xavia
“Alice Springs multi-instrumentalist, looper, singer and NT Song of the year Finalist Xavia creates dreamy electronic-folk, a space to swoon in swirling strings, earthy rhythms and soaring melodiesthat draw you into a vivid song journey.
Live, she has been described as one of the most unique performers on the circuit, live-looping percussive cello, handmade beats and sparkling autoharp to blend with striking and delicate vocals layers and harmonies.
Fresh from signing with NT label Sing Hum, her single HORIZONS, inspired by her desert home, invites us to ‘breathe in’ the landscape and its ancient stories. “Horizons was written while climbing desert mountains, drinking in the colour with thoughts ascending, heart exploding”
XAVIA is originally from Adelaide, formally one half of sibling duo BrotherSister (triple j Unearthed winners), and has lived and toured in Australia, Nashville and Europe as a cellist and sessionmusician. She is now based in the vibrant and robust creative community of Alice Springs with her young family.”
Xavia has achieved a huge following in the US, with her song ‘Horizons’ at almost 2.3 million streams on Spotify.
